WerksAtelier in the BLO-Ateliers is the special case of our selection: there is no group here to disappear into. Tobias Rudolph teaches strictly one-on-one — a single day, flexibly scheduled, €400 to €500, materials included. That is a different price class from a weekend course, and it is a different product: a full workshop day of a specialist’s undivided attention.
Rudolph’s own field is micro-joinery — load-bearing scarf joints in wooden rings worn on the finger — and a hybrid production approach that brings in laser cutting, 3D printing and Pantorouter templates where the hand alone hits tolerance limits. The knife-making course works with pre-forged blades by the blacksmith Adam Ashworth; the material depth extends to adhesive systems and veneer manipulation.
Because there is no group dynamic, a single relationship decides this course: the one with the person teaching. That is exactly what our visit checks — rapport rather than room climate.
