Three years of apprenticeship under master ceramist Uwe Löllmann, whose workshop works in the tradition of Japanese wood-fired kilns, followed by study residencies in Japan: Sharman Riegger’s training is the most classical in this research round’s entire ceramics intake. At Clayers Collective in Wedding she translates that schooling into a five-week course arc that sets each stage of throwing on its own — and into courses of six seats at most, where correction is still handwork.
